- Performs simple typing / computer assignments (e.g. correspondence, labels, bulletins, roster, and reports).
- Sorts and distributes mail and other forms of communication.
- Performs receptionist duties, e.g. answers telephone, takes messages, provides routine information, greets visitors, operates intercom.
- Performs filing tasks as assigned by the administrator(s), (e.g. office correspondence, records, reports).
- Distributes office and instructional supplies.
- Operates/maintains (e.g. refills paper, toner, and master rolls, clears paper jams, calls vendor for service/repairs) appropriate office equipment.
- Receives, counts, secures money, and records transactions, as assigned by the administrator(s).
- Assumes responsibility for tasks involved with the coordinator of substitute assignments.
- Maintains records and provides information for reports as requested by the administrator, e.g. staff and student attendance and reports.
- Registers new students and enters them into the student accounting program.
- Tracks and follows up request for new student records.
- Sends records of transferring students to other schools.
- Maintains records of student daily attendance on student accounting program.
- Maintains student cumulative folders. (e.g. update custody papers/change of address).
- Signs in late students / parent volunteers / early dismissals / bus changes.
- Maintains adequate supply of all district / office forms.
- Develops methods and procedures for effective performance of duties.
- Exercises good judgment and confidentiality in conformance with district policy.
- Performs related duties as assigned by administrator(s)
- High School Diploma or GED Certificate.
- Familiarity with filing procedures and office machines.
- Computer skills
- Ability to follow directions.
- Demonstrates pleasant, cooperative attitude.
- Demonstrates good attendance record (school or employment).
- Effective communication skills.
- All persons employed by the Appoquinimink School District are required to submit a criminal background check and a tuberculosis test.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly talking, expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly. The employee must possess normal cognitive abilities including the ability to learn, recall and apply certain practices and policies. Frequently sitting and/or remaining in a stationary position for long periods of time. Exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
