Title: Medical Assistant
Position Overview: As a Medical Assistant in our non-traditional primary care clinic, you will play a vital role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality and patient-centered healthcare services.
This dynamic position goes beyond typical medical assisting duties and requires adaptability, excellent communication skills, and a patient-centered approach. You will work closely with a team to ensure the efficient delivery of an exceptional patient experience in a unique and innovative healthcare setting.
Ark Family Health is a Direct Primary Care (DPC) clinic, a new approach to healthcare that gives patients direct access to doctors, providers, nurses and other health professionals for a flat monthly fee. DPC is accessible to all: individuals, families and businesses. We are an evidence based, full service primary care clinic focusing our energy on building relationships with patients to empower their health and happiness. Combining in-person, video and phone call patient visits, our providers experience a much smaller panel than traditional PCP clinics.
With the added time per patient we are able to listen, and to the best of our abilities, understand each patient’s unique health concerns. We discuss Lifestyle Medicine principles to help manage, prevent and reverse disease.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Patient-Centered Care
● Assist healthcare providers in the examination and treatment of patients.
● Perform routine procedures such as vital signs and EKGs, take and record medical histories and chief complaints.
● Administer injections, medications and vaccines as directed by healthcare providers.
● Perform point-of-care testing and collect specimens for laboratory analysis, including phlebotomy.
● Greet and prepare patients for examinations, ensuring their comfort and addressing any concerns.
● Collaborate with physicians, providers and administrative staff to ensure seamless patient care.
● Communicate effectively with patients, families, and caregivers to address their concerns and questions.
● Coordinate patient appointments, referrals and follow-up care when needed.
2. Administrative Duties
● Manage electronic health records (EHR) and maintain accurate and up-to-date patient information
● Handle scheduling and billing tasks when needed
● Assist in managing inventory of medical supplies and equipment
● Assist with maintaining the cleanliness and organization of examination rooms and the office.
● Ensure medical equipment is in good working order and report any issues.
3. Patient Advocacy and Quality Improvement
● Address patient concerns and inquiries in a professional and empathetic manner.
● Ensure a patient-centered experience and advocate for patients’ needs.
● Contribute to the development and implementation of best practices and procedures to enhance the overall effectiveness of the patient experience.

Qualifications:
● Empathy and a strong commitment to patient satisfaction.
● Strong customer service, excellent communication skills, and attention to detail.
● Ability to work effectively on a collaborative healthcare team.
● Knowledge of medical terminology, basic medical procedures, and patient care principles.
● Completion of a medical assistant program and certification.
● Current BLS certification.
