Summary:
Under limited supervision from the VP of Finance Accounting, this position will provide reconcilement and analysis of the following Accounting area functions; ACH, Share Draft, Visa, Income, Expenses, Loans, Fixed Assets, Shares, and all other general Accounting in accordance with GAAP. This role supports departmental goals for general ledger balancing and maintenance as well as month-end balancing completion by expected deadlines.
Essential Functions:
- Responsible for all phases of the close of business to include receipt, verification, and balancing of required data by the given deadline
- In conjunction with the Finance Senior Accountant, assists with all phases of mid-month and month-end close of business to include receipt, verification, and balancing of required data and all adjusting entries and accruals of all data.
- Assist all branches with vault and drawer balancing, when needed.
- Assist all departments and branches with accounting queries.
- In conjunction with the Finance Senior Accountant and VP of Finance Accounting, develops internal operating procedures for the Finance functions within the position’s control as well as provide periodic updates.
- Strive to attain and exceed departmental, personal performance, and credit union strategic goals.
- Provide input on process improvement opportunities dealing with the current job processes.
- Serve as a team member on various business plan and department-based project initiatives.
- Provide “hands on” assistance and cross training to all positions within the division.
- Be familiar with Finance Senior Accountant responsibilities in order to assume responsibility of the Finance Senior Accountant in a back-up capacity.
- Seize all opportunities to educate members about credit union products and services.
- Abide by Belco’s policies, procedures, and standards.

- Any other duties requested by the VP of Finance Accounting.

Work Environment:
This position operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment, such as computers, phones, copiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. Other department-specific equipment used include check scanners and document scanners.
This position is hybrid with a minimum of 20% in-office time required.
Physical Demands:
Ability to operate general office equipment such as copiers, fax machines, scanners, phones, hole punches and staplers. Keyboarding or PC data entry capabilities required. Sitting, standing, bending and hand dexterity required. Ability to meet minimum lifting requirement up to 25 lbs. associated with the storage of documents for record retention purposes. Ability to move from one area to another within a one-floor office layout. Stairs and elevator provided for movement from one floor to another and to enter and exit building.

Minimum Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree required. Two years similar or related experience, including time spent in preparatory positions. Must complete and pass the prescribed online Learning Management System courses assigned for this position within two years after position acceptance and before consideration for promotion. Additional education/training requirements may be requested as new courses become available. Certain courses may be waived based on prior experience.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting and practical experience of more than two years in financial institution accounting department preferred.
