POSITION TITLE: ITS Specialist, Cybersecurity Analyst
DEPARTMENT: Information Technology Services (ITS)
PRIMARY LOCATION: Fall River
POSITION STATUS: This is a full-time, non-unit position with benefits
REPORTS TO: Assistant Director, Information Security and Network Technology
SALARY: $64,400.00 - $68,080.50*
- Hiring salary commensurate with education and experience.
STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
The Information Security Analyst aids in the support and management of, but not limited to, the prevention, detection, and response to cybersecurity incidents across all college systems; implementation and maintenance of tools and services used for monitoring and response; assists with identifying weaknesses and remediation of vulnerabilities across the cloud and on-premises infrastructure. The position implements policies and procedures based on industry standards and security best practices to protect the integrity, availability, and confidentiality of college electronic data and technology resources. This position is required to perform occasional off-hours work during nights and weekends, both for urgent issues and on-call needs, as well as for maintenance that is required outside of normal business hours. This position will also require travel between college locations on a regular basis.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Monitor and analyze security alerts and incidents to identify potential threats.
- Assist in the implementation and maintenance of security measures and controls.
- Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify security weaknesses.
- Support the development and enforcement of security policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with IT staff to ensure the secure configuration of systems and networks.
- Participate in incident response activities, including investigation and remediation.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of cybersecurity trends, threats, and best practices.
- Assist in the preparation of security reports and documentation.
- Serve as backup to other positions within Information Technology Services as appropriate.
- As required, travel between college locations to complete duties.
- Focus on customer service best practices when working with Bristol community members, including faculty, staff, and students.
- Focus on the Commonwealth's Equity Agenda by applying related best practices throughout all job functions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Unless otherwise noted, all required qualifications must be met by date of hire.
- Minimum of an associate degree or equivalent from an accredited college or technical school with a focus in cybersecurity/information security.
- Knowledge of Windows server administration which includes Active Directory, management of user accounts and groups, DHCP, DNS, patching, and/or upgrades.
- Knowledge of fundamental networking including equipment (routers and switches), cabling, communication protocols (TCP/IP, ARP, HTTP, SMTP), routing concepts, DHCP, DNS, VLANs.
- Demonstrated customer service skills, including excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
- Reliable transportation to travel to and from meetings, training, or campus and community locations as required.
- Ability to lift and move technology equipment.
- Ability to work occasional nights and/or weekends as need dictates.
- The ability to work effectively with a diverse student body, faculty, and staff.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Current industry certification such as CompTIA Security , CISSP, or GSEC
- Hands-on experience in information/cybersecurity administration, which may include coursework/internships as a student, that demonstrates experience and understanding of security design.
- Experience implementing/supporting hardware-based firewalls.
- Understanding of Microsoft 365 Security product suite.
- Experience supporting/troubleshooting an enterprise Active Directory environment, including NTFS permissions and Group Policies.
- Experience, coursework, training and/or certification in VMware technologies.
- Solid organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrated skill at quickly diagnosing system hardware and software issues and the ability to take or recommend corrective action.
- Ability to communicate in a language in addition to English.
