Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated Computer Operator to join our operations team at a regional downtown office. This role provides 24/7 support for IT infrastructure and ensures smooth operations across multiple shifts. The position involves monitoring, troubleshooting, and managing IT hardware and software issues while supporting equipment installations and network maintenance. This is a 6-month role with the possibility of working at alternate locations and shifts once fully trained.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 24x7x365 on-site operational support for IT systems and infrastructure.
- Monitor and log hardware/software problems and infrastructure issues, ensuring appropriate staff are notified and tickets are created.
- Perform equipment, network, fiber, and copper installations and decommissions as needed.
- Offer off-hours support for the service desk to address user and system issues.
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical certifications or coursework preferred.
- Experience in IT operations, infrastructure support, or related fields is beneficial.
Special Requirements:
- Flexibility to work alternate shifts and at different locations as required.
- Basic knowledge of IT hardware, network systems, and troubleshooting processes.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong technical and troubleshooting skills for IT infrastructure.
- Ability to log and escalate issues effectively through ticketing systems.
- Effective communication and collaboration with IT teams and end-users.
- Attention to detail and the ability to work independently during off-hours.
Additional Desired Characteristics:
- Experience with IT installations and decommissions is a plus.
- A proactive approach to resolving issues and maintaining system uptime.
Work Environment:
- Primary location: regional downtown office, with occasional shifts at other locations (e.g., Southpointe).
- Typical hours: Tuesday to Saturday, 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM.
- Onsite role with potential for shift adjustments after training.
