Shoreview, Minnesota, a premier City in the north metro area of the twin cities seeks to fill a new position, IT technician. This position is responsible for providing technical support to computer hardware and software systems, network, and city mobile devices.
Responsibilities may include: installing software and hardware; creating system accounts; troubleshooting system problems; monitoring city networks and servers; coordinating with vendors to maintain and enhance systems when necessary; providing technical training and support to employees; maintaining records, documentation, inventory, and ensuring system security.

Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, with varied hours as needed. This person must be available to respond to frequent requests outside of normal work hours.
Hiring Wage Range: $31.12 - $34.31 per hour DOQ, plus excellent benefits.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Employee is frequently required to sit, talk, listen and hear; continuously use hands/fingers dexterously; and on occasion reach with hands and arms, stand, walk, stoop, kneel and/or crouch in the performance of the job. Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
Duties of the job are primarily administrative in nature performed in an office environment. The physical and environmental hazards and risks associated with the job can be characterized as minimal.

- Provides technical assistance and advice via help desk; responds to IT-related inquiries, and performs troubleshooting.
- Sets up and configures a wide variety of hardware and software; including workstations, laptops, printers, and networking equipment.
- Coordinates end-user computer training and learning opportunities.
- Keeps IT manager and other staff promptly informed of matters relevant to performing the responsibilities of their positions.
- Provides computer and network support outside standard business hours on a limited basis as assigned.
- Performs other duties consistent with the responsibilities of the position as assigned by the city.
- Responds to telephone calls, email and personal requests for technical support. Identify, research and resolve user problems related to hardware and software.
- Ability to maintain a high level of integrity and ethical performance at all times.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of a wide variety of information to which the position provides access.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive, professional working relationships with co- workers, supervisors and a wide range of City employees.

- Associate degree or certificate in information systems, computer science or related field.
- Two years experience troubleshooting, repairing, replacing, and installing computer related equipment.
- Two years related work experience with Microsoft Windows desktops, servers, networks, and virtualization.
- Valid driver's license and excellent driving record.
- Additional education and professional certifications as it relates to the position.
- Experience working in city or county government setting.
- Experience in multiple platforms: Windows, Linux, VMware, ChromeOS, Mac OS, Android, iOS a plus.
