FINANCE SUPERVISOR

The City of Sunnyside is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Finance Supervisor. The Finance Supervisor manages and coordinates the daily accounting and financial activities for the City of Sunnyside. The Finance Supervisor directly leads, trains, and manages staff who are responsible for completing complex financial transactions in the following areas: Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Cashiering, Utility Billing, Payroll, Deposits, Budget Preparation and Annual Reporting.

Essential Job Functions:

• Perform a variety of professional accounting duties related to the general ledger, including processing receipts, claims, internal transfers, investment management, budget compliance, monthly reconciliations and monthly, quarterly and yearly reporting.
• Plan, direct, coordinate and review the work plans for assigned staff; assign work activities, projects and programs; review and evaluate work products, methods and procedures; meet with staff to identify and resolve issues.
• Assist in the development of annual operating and capital project budgets.
• Prepare the Annual Report including technical schedules and notes for fiscal year reporting to the State Auditor's Office.

Minimum Requirements

• Associate's Degree in Accounting or related field
• Five (5) years of progressively responsible accounting, training, and supervisory experience.
• Experience in Municipal Finance Operations/Procedures
• Experience with Washington State Auditor's BARS manual

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field
