What are the responsibilities and job description for the Member Relations Associate (Downstate) position at Civil Service Employees Association, Inc.?
CSEA is seeking a Member Relations Associate (STARTING AT $50,952 ANNUALLY).
Under the supervision of the Director of Member Benefits, supports CSEA’s visibility initiatives directly to CSEA members and potential members. The Member Relations Associate will have assignments primarily in the Long Island, Metropolitan AND Southern Regions and requires residency at a location acceptable to the Director of Member Benefits.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
The following is a summary of basic job functions. Other duties that evolve from or are tangent to these functions may be required.
1. Develops and attends visibility events and informational programs for CSEA Locals/Units and potential organizing bargaining units statewide.
2. Represents CSEA Member Benefits at Region, Local/Unit meetings and other CSEA-sponsored events. Presents information in large and small group settings and in one-on-one member contacts.
3. Responds to concerns from rank and file members, activists and elected leadership and staff, makes referrals to other CSEA Departments.
4. Distributes and disseminates member publications and/or other union publications for internal visibility and external organizing campaigns.
5. Prepares reports/statistics on member contacts, benefit usage and problem identification and resolution and other reports as needed.
6. Performs other duties as assigned.
7. Significant travel expected.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or Equivalency Certificate
AND
Three years of satisfactory responsible business experience, preferably in a labor union environment, which must have involved extensive public contact.
OR
Graduation from a recognized college or university from a four year course for which a Bachelor's Degree is granted; or from a recognized school of labor relations.
OR
A satisfactory equivalent combination of the foregoing training, education and experience as determined by CSEA.
Must become proficient in the use of appropriate computer software and hardware and have strong public speaking skills.
NOTE: Candidates must posses a valid New York State driver's license and have a car available for business use in order to be appointed.
