Classification Title: Administrative Secretary Part Time (Commissioner)

PURPOSE OF CLASSIFICATION
The purpose of this classification is to provide administrative and clerical support to the Commissioner’s Office and its departmental staff.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. All duties may not be performed in all departments. Other duties may be required and assigned.

Performs front desk duties to include, but not limited to, answering a multi-lined phone which is the department’s main telephone lines in a timely manner Greets visitors/citizens and direct them to appropriate meeting rooms, ensuring prompt customer service; provide assistance and information regarding department services to citizens on the phone or in person; refers callers to other staff members as appropriate; responds to questions; takes messages; and performs various administrative and clerical support functions.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

High school diploma or GED; supplemented by one (1) year of office and/or customer service experience. Hours are 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm - Monday - Friday. Proficient in MS Word and Excel. TYPING SPEED: 35 WPM PREFERRED.
(If requested by the department, Typing Test will be administered at a later date. Application will be reviewed and sent to the department if all other minimum qualifications are met.)

ADA COMPLIANCE

Physical Ability: Tasks may involve extended period of time at a keyboard or work station. require the ability to exert light to very moderate physical effort in sedentary to light work; may involve some combination of stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling, which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light to moderate weight (15-20 pounds).

Sensory Requirements: Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate sounds and visual cues or signals.

Environmental Factors: Under normal conditions essential functions are performed without exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
