Work Arrangements
- Work location: 40% remote/60%/community engagements.
- Full Time, 40 hours per week, weekends, evenings as scheduled.
- Valid Ohio driver’s license; will use company vehicle and personal vehicle for work purposes.
Essential Duties
- Conduct speaking engagements with ADAMH network providers, ODMHAS, community partners, and CompDrug patients providing health education on topics which may include HIV and other STIs, medication management, tobacco cessation, overdose prevention, reproductive and perinatal health and other health topics that may be assigned.
- Maintains, updates and develops education materials and other resources using current, validated research.
- Develop and maintain relationships with community partners in identified areas. Coordinate and schedule events/opportunities with community partners.
- Engages with individuals at risk, using research supported strategies such as motivational interviewing to provide treatment resources and assess treatment readiness.
- Represents CompDrug at syringe exchange program, assist with participants intent to enter treatment with connection to treatment services.
- Distribute Narcan/Naloxone to individuals at risk for overdose throughout the community which may include direct individuals or family members/friends.
- Distribute Narcan/Naloxone to community assigned Nalox boxes for easier access in emergency situations or for those who may be displaced.
- Administer required assessment tool to individuals served by the Narcan response unit.
- Manages and maintains the ADAMH and community Narcan/Naloxone inventory or supplies.
- Implement and manage health education strategies, interventions and programs.
- Re-engages CompDrug patients who are not actively participating in treatment. Utilizes evidence-based outreach and engagement strategies and ensures swift connection to appropriate CompDrug staff to support the patient’s return to treatment.
- Provide individual and group counseling education sessions and case management within the scope of secondary prevention and document in EHR.
- Work collaboratively within the agency to ensure the deliverables are met and supported.
- Complete grant reporting requirements. and participate in grant update meetings and communication.
- Regular and timely attendance
- Assist with credentialing, if requested.
- Participate in annual BCI and FBI background check processes.
- Provide assistance with NPI process and maintenance of CAQH profile as requested.
- Maintain any certification or licenses as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelors degree strongly preferred. Studies with Counseling, Medical, or Social Sciences are helpful.
- Ohio Certified Prevention Specialist S or Certified Health Education Specialist and Chemical Dependency Counselor Assistant certification required within 1 year of employment.
- Experience in behavioral health, public health, and/or addiction preferred.
- Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office products with heavy use of Teams, Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Excellent communication (including public speaking/presentation skills, interpersonal, counseling), collaborative skills and desire to help others.
- Ability to develop rapport and work with vulnerable populations while displaying empathy and compassion.
- Valid driver's license and ability to utilize personal vehicle for work purposes.
Work environment
- Represents CompDrug throughout the community, including at community partner locations/facilities and out of doors in community neighborhoods and festivals.
- Lifts to 40 pounds and transports supplies via cart or wagon that is pushed or pulled.
