We are currently looking for a positive, forward-thinking Buyer to join our team in Olive Branch, Mississippi. The ideal candidate must be exceptionally detail-oriented and must have the ability to coordinate with other departments to fully understand their specific needs and communicate effectively to accomplish the necessary tasks. Candidate must possess the willingness and ability to respond and accept changing ideas, responsibilities, expectations, trends, strategies and other processes.
Job Description:
The position will oversee and supervise the process of sourcing, negotiating and purchasing materials for our manufacturing facilities while constantly considering all aspects of relationships with suppliers, including quality, value and the ability to respond quickly to changing supply requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Master negotiator.
- Develop and implement purchasing strategies and support best practices in an ISO manufacturing environment with continuous improvement initiatives.
- Obtain best value through purchasing.
- Provide leadership, priority setting, training, and guidance to purchasing resources.
- Perform daily purchasing for production needs and oversee purchases.
- Use MRP-ERP system to perform duties.
- Manage supplier documentation in quality system.
- Manage supplier relationships with goal of positive relationships and favorable purchasing agreements.
- Material planning
- Support operations buying for service, facilities, and capital purchases.
- Support new product development team in finding alternative and requested materials to support new product launches.
- Understand technical specification to ensure that all procured items meet the required quality standards and necessary specifications.
- Prepare cost estimates, alternative solutions, and manage budgets.
Requirements:
- 5-10 years of experience in purchasing or directly related work
- Supervisory and/or management experience.
- Strong critical thinking and negotiation skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Must be a team player who can work with internal and external partners.
- Background in purchasing desired.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment with purchasing raw material is helpful.
- Deep knowledge of inventory and supply chain management.
- Market knowledge of aluminum & copper materials and services to support manufacturing preferred
- Experience with MRP-ERP business systems. JD Edwards.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
