Job Description

In this role you will facilitate the educational needs of students with physical, behavioral and emotional challenges. Responsibilities include: Assist in caring for educational, physical and emotional needs of students. Supervise class when teacher is involved in other activities. Attend staffing and departmental in-service as assigned. Track supplies for the classroom. Provide services to individuals with varied behavior issues, which may include physical aggression, verbal assault, inappropriate sexual comments, gestures and acts. Provide guidance and mentorship to Paraprofessionals. Maintain strong knowledge of individual student educational plans. Coordinate transportation of clients to and from residential facility and on community outings. Provide support in classrooms on behavior interventions as needed Support behavioral plans and incentive programs for students. Help develop school wide incentive programs. Coordinate outings and trips with approval of Principal or designated administrator. Liaison with Nursing, Family Outreach Workers and Clinicians as needed. Respond to crisis calls, monitor client managements and document incidents. Support gathering information for Incident Review Process with injured staff. Assist substitute Program Facilitators in connecting to assigned teacher. Organize and facilitate scheduled training for Para Professionals. Qualifications include: An Associates Degree and 3 years of experience working with children with disabilities, Bachelor’s Degree preferred. Five years of experience may be substituted for the degree and 3 years of additional experience working with children with disabilities ( total of 8 years’ experience required) Valid Driver’s license with reliable transportation Compensation: $22.25 per hour What’s in it for you?
