JOB DESCRIPTION:
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Controller to support the financial management of Hawkins Construction Company and its subsidiaries. Under the guidance of the CFO, the Assistant Controller will gain hands-on experience in core accounting operations and progressively take on leadership responsibilities. This includes spearheading process improvements, managing risks, and resolving daily financial challenges.
CORE DUTIES:
Accounting Operations
- Provide day-to-day support to the accounting team, focusing on:
- Payroll management.
- Accounts payable processing.
- General ledger accounting.
- Cash management.
- Job costing analysis.
- Account reconciliations.
Financial Leadership
- Take ownership of financial statement preparation, management reporting, and budgeting for all subsidiaries.
Audit & Compliance
- Support the annual audit and income tax return preparation for the company and its subsidiaries.
Risk Management
- Offer insights and strategies to mitigate financial risks and enhance accounting practices.
Process Improvement
- Lead initiatives to streamline accounting operations and improve overall efficiency.
Additional Duties
- Take on other tasks as assigned to support departmental and company goals.
DESIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
- Experience: 3-7 years of relevant experience in accounting or financial management, preferably in construction or a related industry.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of accounting principles, regulations, and risk management practices.
- Technical Proficiency: Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Organizational Skills: Highly organized with exceptional follow-through and attention to detail.
- Problem-Solving Abilities: Demonstrates adaptability and a solution-focused mindset.
- Multi-Tasking: Comfortable managing multiple activities and responsibilities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
