Position: Undergraduate Admissions Counselor-TEMPORARY

Organizational Relationship: Reports to the Director of Traditional Undergraduate Admissions

Position Status: hourly, non-exempt, full-time (occasional evening, weekend, and overnight travel required)

Position Summary: Under the supervision of the Director of Traditional Undergraduate Admissions,this position assists in the enrollment growth for undergraduate programs and participates in recruitment and marketing efforts aimed at attracting new students to the University. In addition, the position coordinates activities and provides services relating to the recruitment of prospective students, guiding prospective students through the admissions process at HIU.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Recruitment/Enrollment

  • participates in developing and implementing a strategic recruitment plan for undergraduate programs in assigned designated territory
  • is responsible for the management of the designated student pool in Salesforce and Campus Nexus
  • provide weekly enrollment updates to the Director of Traditional Undergraduate Admissions
  • executes continual follow-up with prospective students, inquiries, and applicants according to current admissions processes and policies
  • assists in coordinating and assisting with recruitment events as directed by the Director of Traditional Undergraduate Admissions
  • fully participates in marketing activities and recruitment events for undergraduate programs
  • leads and facilitates recruitment presentations at assigned events
  • educates students and families about current financial aid programs and processes
  • administers, as directed, pre-enrollment events that require University-wide collaboration
  • participates in the recruitment of established partnership programs
  • assists the University in developing and advancing relationships with high schools and community colleges, especially within designated territory
  • develop and nurture community relations with churches, colleges, high schools, etc.
  • visits community colleges regularly and participates in transfer days and fairs
  • is responsible for providing preliminary transcript evaluations for prospective transfer students
  • collaborates to develop, implement, and maintain transfer guides
  • remains current on HIU programs with the ability to recruit students into all HIU programs, especially undergraduate on-campus programs
  • provides excellent customer service to prospective students, current students, and parents, answering questions pertaining to admissions
  • promotes cooperation, teamwork, and coordination among the University's various departments toward the end goal of honoring the Lord and providing the best possible services to constituents
  • travels to and recruits students from assigned designated territories and schools, especially during September-November (must be willing to stay overnight occasionally and work weekends when needed
  • other duties as determined by the Director of Traditional Undergraduate Admissions

QUALIFICATIONS: To fulfill this role successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education/Experience: A bachelor's degree is preferred, sales or counseling experience is preferred, and customer service experience is required.

Knowledge and Skills: understanding of the demands of higher education as an industry and the demands of Enrollment Management; outgoing personality and being comfortable leading conversations and presentations; excellent written and verbal communication skills. Candidate must possess general knowledge of Hope International University’s missions, vision, and core values. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications is required. Previous CRM experience is preferred.

Visual Demands: extended viewing of computer monitor; proofreading, photocopying, filing, and quality control

Physical Demands: tolerance for extended time at keyboard/computer monitor and telephone; ability to stand and converse with people at events for hours at a time; ability to lift 25 pounds; ability to drive a vehicle for extended periods of time

Environment: fast-paced office environment, service-oriented, multi-cultural; extensive contact with support staff, faculty, students, prospective students, church leaders, and the public

Character: must possess high integrity, embody Christian character, and be actively involved in a local church

Pay: $24.00 - $26.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Evenings as needed
  • Monday to Friday
  • Weekends as needed
