- Assists attorneys on prosecution of Metro Codes violations in Environmental Court on a weekly basis.
- Drafts and reviews pleadings, orders, and other legal documents.
- Responds to emails and phone calls from clients, citizens, and attorneys.
- Assists with preparations for court hearings.
- Researches matters upon request.
- Assists attorneys by taking notes, organizing files, and performing administrative tasks.
- Files, serves, and delivers documents with courts and parties and witnesses.
- Establishes and maintains files and records.
- Manages databases.
- Performs other law related support services as required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Paralegal Certificate and two (2) years of experience in a legal field
LICENSE REQUIRED
Valid Driver's License
Candidates with accreditations earned in a foreign institute are encouraged to apply.
Note: Per Metro Ordinance No. SO94-1078. All employees of the Metropolitan Government shall be residents of the State of Tennessee or become residents of the state within six (6) months of employment as a prerequisite to employment with the Metropolitan Government.- Knowledge of the fundamentals of civil law and legal procedures
- Knowledge of the fundamentals of the Tennessee court structure and the legal system of the United States
- Knowledge of legal writing and research techniques
- Ability to multi-task and manage a volume of cases
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to adapt in fast-paced environment
