Applications are being accepted for an Associate Vice President for Academics at Northwest State Community College. The Associate Vice President for Academics provides support for the Vice President for Academics as needed. This role is responsible for providing leadership and oversight to the Center for Teaching & Learning, Library, Accreditation, and Distance Learning. This role is also responsible for supporting the Vice President with all administrative duties and will serve as a resource to Deans, Faculty, and Students. The Associate Vice President for Academics will lead and serve on various college committees.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Responsible for the design, launch, and day-to day oversight of the Center for Teaching & Learning.

  • Assists with the grant funding process.
  • Develops and oversees all of the committees associated with the Center for Teaching & Learning.
  • Supports and drives initiatives created by the Center for Teaching & Learning.

2. Provides Leadership and Academic support to the following areas/roles: Library, Accreditation, Distance Learning, and the Center for Teaching and Learning.

3. Responsible for the Day-to-Day Operational and administrative tasks in all Academic areas. Including but not limited to:

  • FLAC, load sheets, and payroll.
  • Reporting (Efficiency Report, Program Review Completion, Assessment, etc.)

4. Oversees all Accreditation and Compliance efforts.

5. Assists in the development of academic budgets. Manages and provides oversight for budgets in all academic areas.

6. Ensures the assessment of the academic curriculum and assist in the program review process.

7. Oversee the Academic grievance procedure. Respond to student and faculty issues as appropriate.

8. Leads, coordinates, and participates in college, division, committee activities and governance.

9. Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

  • Master’s degree in a related discipline required; an earned doctorate preferred.
  • Three years of academic administrative experience in higher education required.
  • Three years teaching experience at the college level preferred.

Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Must be familiar with all aspects of Community College Academics, program review assessment and accreditation.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills working with students, employees, and the public in an administrative capacity.
  • Expertise in managing a division that is research based and results driven. Ability to gather and analyze statistical data.
  • Strong communication (written and verbal), motivational, interpersonal, and team building skills.
  • Ability to efficiently utilize computer applications including Microsoft Office and Google programs.
  • Must demonstrate good judgment, tact, and have the ability to foster cooperation and collaboration and have the ability to be creative and innovative in administering program and services and to motivate employees to work harmoniously in a complex organizational structure.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED

Director of Library Services, Coordinator of Accreditation, Compliance, and Curriculum, Instructional Design & Distance Learning Coordinator, and the Center for Teaching & Learning.

RESPONSIBILITY FOR PUBLIC CONTACT

Personal contact with representatives from other colleges, universities, high schools, licensing boards, national or regional accrediting agencies, State officials, community stakeholders, parents and students.
