Phenix Label is seeking an experienced and driven Director of Manufacturing to join our leadership team. The Director will be responsible for using manufacturing improvement methodologies to meet production targets while mentoring and leading a high-performing team. This role involves implementing manufacturing strategies and operational goals to exceed customer expectations in product quality, cost, and delivery. The Director will analyze workforce utilization, facility layout, production costs, and schedules to optimize team and equipment efficiency. The role also focuses on reducing waste and improving the cost of quality through job duty restructuring, workflow optimization, and continuous assessment of manufacturing procedures and training methods.
Essential Functions:
- Ensure all production activities are conducted safely and efficiently, adhering to industry standards.
- Monitor and analyze Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) across all shifts to assess manufacturing operations and make data-driven decisions for continuous improvement.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to team members to ensure high-quality standards, operational efficiency, and a positive organizational culture.
- Develop and implement manufacturing strategies, quality improvement initiatives, corrective actions, and continuous improvement projects.
- Forecast manufacturing needs and plan resources accordingly, including material and labor requirements.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Research & Development, and Supply Chain teams to ensure manufacturing processes align with business objectives and product development.
- Manage the manufacturing budget, controlling costs, and seeking opportunities to improve profitability.
- Lead 5S activities throughout the production area, ensuring efficient organization and cleanliness.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support manufacturing operations.
Skills and Experience Required:
- Strong knowledge of technical operations, business, and financial skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal guidance, demonstrating excellent time management, organization, and decision-making abilities.
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to interact and collaborate with diverse groups and individuals across various settings.
- Ability to coach, mentor, and develop employees in a supportive environment that fosters accountability and self-esteem.
- Experience with administrative tasks, including maintaining records, reports, and employee documentation.
- Preferred Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
- At least 7 years of leadership experience in manufacturing, with a focus on Lean Management and continuous improvement methodologies.
- In-depth knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, TOC, TQM, ISO, and other industry best practices.
- Strong problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to implement effective solutions to complex issues.
- Experience in budgeting, cost management, and financial analysis.
- Familiarity with ERP systems and other manufacturing software tools.
- Demonstrated qualities of an Ideal Team Player.
- English language proficiency is required.
Physical and Other Requirements:
- This position is performed indoors in a temperature and humidity-controlled environment.
- Exposure to strobe lights, sounds, and noise levels may be present in the production area.
- Occasional physical activities, including sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, bending, or crouching.
- Frequent standing and walking, with occasional lifting, pushing, pulling, or moving objects up to 50 pounds.
- Vision abilities required include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Hearing abilities must include the capacity to hear alarms and other factory sensors.
- Manual dexterity required for handling objects, operating computers, tools, and office-related equipment.
