We are looking for a dedicated Primary Care Office Billing and Reception Specialist to join our team. This dual-role position integrates billing and reception responsibilities, ensuring smooth operations and excellent service in our primary care office.
Key Responsibilities:
Billing Duties:
- Financial Intakes: Schedule and conduct financial intakes for new and returning patients, ensuring accurate data entry into our Electronic Client Record (ECR) system.
- Insurance Verification: Verify and update patient insurance information to ensure accurate billing and coverage.
- Income Verification: Manage the annual income verification process and update patient accounts as necessary.
- Aging Reports: Generate and review aging reports monthly for insurance and Medicaid claims to ensure timely follow-up.
- Payment Posting: Accurately post payments from insurance, board, and self-pay sources in a timely manner.
- Credentialing: Maintain up-to-date credentialing for staff and the practice.
- Claims Review: Review and approve claims to ensure compliance with all necessary requirements.
- Self-Pay Balances: Oversee self-pay balances by sending monthly statements, following up on overdue balances, and managing a pre-collection list.
Reception Duties:
- Client Interaction: Greet patients with a friendly demeanor, direct them to the appropriate offices, and make a positive first impression.
- Phone Management: Handle a multi-line phone system, addressing inquiries and directing calls as needed.
- Information Verification: Verify patients' demographic and insurance information for accurate billing and service delivery.
- Payment Collection: Collect copays, deductibles, and outstanding balances at the time of the visit.
- Department Collaboration: Collaborate with medical staff and other departments to ensure seamless patient service and communication.
- Billing Support: Assist the billing team with various tasks and support process improvements.
- Travel Requirements: Occasionally travel to perform job duties at all practice sites.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Some knowledge of insurance rules including CPT codes, HCPCS codes, and diagnosis coding is preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency with computer systems and electronic records with a good understanding Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Basic math skills are necessary including but not limited to the ability to add, subtract, average and computer percentages.
Education and Experience:
- Previous experience in billing and/or reception within a healthcare setting is preferred.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and communicate effectively.
- Must be able to pass a background check.
