Job Scope
Oversees daily operation of a singular department or campus. Directs staff, which should include people managers,
in the development and implementation of departmental or campus policies, procedures, and programs. Adheres
to both district policy and governmental regulations concerning department or campus operations. Manages
departmental or campus structure, development, training, and planning.
Position Summary
Director of Business Information Systems (BIS) is responsible for the day-to-day tactical management, technical
direction, and leadership of the Business Services team. This includes leading the strategic vision and overall
administrative management and security of the district’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Frontline Education.
The Director will play a pivotal role in streamlining processes and finding operational efficiencies within our Human
Capital Management and Finance systems to support our financial, human resource, advancement, and student
achievement goals. The Director will ensure that the integration of the district's ERP and other HR/financial
applications maximizes efficiencies across functions, thus creating a high-integrity single source of truth for
financial, human resource, and payroll data. As an enterprise leader, they will empower and support the
organization in all business technology areas, facilitating business operations and sustaining growth in a multi-state
network. The individual in this role should have strong personnel management, communication, and interpersonal
skills, as well as have a solid grasp of how to run and manage complex infrastructure.
Essential Functions / Key Responsibilities
1. Develop and implement a comprehensive strategic plan for the district's Business Services team, aligning
with the overall district goals and objectives.
2. Oversee the district's ERP (Frontline Education) system, ensuring its optimal performance, security, and
integration with other systems.
3. Identify opportunities to leverage technology to streamline processes, improve efficiency, and enhance
decision-making.
4. Manage the day-to-day operations of the Business Services team, including staffing, budgeting, and
performance management.
5. Oversee the implementation and maintenance of HR and financial systems, ensuring data accuracy,
security, and compliance with district policies and regulatory requirements.
6. Collaborate with district leaders, department heads, and staff to understand their business needs and
translate them into technology solutions.
7. Foster strong relationships with vendors and partners to ensure timely support and resolution of issues.
8. Participate in district-wide initiatives to promote the effective use of technology and data-driven decision-
making.
9. Identify and implement operational efficiencies within Human Capital Management and Finance systems
to support financial, human resource, advancement, and student achievement goals.
10. Establish baseline key system performance metrics, tracking and regular reporting to the company with
specific plans for improvement where appropriate.
11. Stays current with industry best practices, new technology, and information security developments and
techniques.
12. Brief the executive team on status and risks, including taking the role of champion for the overall strategy
and necessary budget.
13. Ensure compliance with the changing laws and applicable regulations.
14. Performs other related duties as assigned within the appropriate skill and experience capabilities
expected for this position.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university or 4 years equivalent experience.
- 10 years progressive experience in Management Information Systems (MIS), or related.
- 4 years of progressive leadership experience to include:
o Coaching, Mentoring, Developing, and Performance Managing employees or teams.
- Ability to manage large complex programs with multiple functional stakeholders.
