Description

Plan, coordinate, oversee, and facilitate information systems District technology projects.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Receives direction from an assigned supervisor.
Exercises functional oversight of lower level information technology staff.
Responsibilities and Duties

  1. Confer with end-users, administrators, and information services personnel to develop and determine project objectives and the scope and depth of project activities;
  2. Plan, coordinate, and oversee District technology projects; assure compliance with applicable laws, codes, policies and regulations;
  3. Coordinate support activities and services for successful completion of projects; monitor the completion of project phases; identify and resolve issues delaying progress or deliveryof products and services;
  4. Conduct site inspections with vendors and District staff to determine what resources are required for projects;
  5. Review and evaluate project plans, design documents, and other technical documents and sets schedules to needed to successfully initiate and accomplish information technology projects;
  6. Serve as a liaison between technology vendors and the District; communicates regularly with vendors to exchange information, coordinate activities and resolve issues; coordinates efforts with District staff;
  7. Assist the Director to review requests for technology services to determine priority and timelines;
  8. Schedule, assign, and train staff to ensure the successful completion of projects;
  9. Attend and participate in professional group meetings; stay abreast of new trends and innovations in the field of information systems;
  10. Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
Qualifications

Knowledge of:
  • Methods and techniques used in the installation, trouble shooting, upgrading and problem resolution of information systems.
  • Operational characteristics of various computer programs, networks, software packages and programming languages.
  • Methods and techniques of system design, programming and software installation.
  • Principles and practices of data and telecommunication networking.
  • Principles and practices of current AV and Multimedia system integration
  • Principles and practices of effective project management.
Ability to:
  • Independently perform systems analysis activities.
  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee the implementation of multi-facetted work plans.
  • Install, troubleshoot and upgrade District information systems.
  • Evaluate, test, implement and support new operating systems.
  • Analyze, evaluate, and assess the technological needs of the District.
  • Read and comprehend complex written and technical materials.
  • Detect, isolate and resolve network problems.
  • Work independently in the absence of supervision.
  • Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies, project management techniques, and external process changes by reading industry publications, attending training.
  • Sensitivity to and understanding of, the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, linguistic, ethnic backgrounds and disabilities of community college students and staff.
  • Sit, stand, walk, bend and stoop for prolonged periods of time; lift 30 pounds.
Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in computer science, information systems, electronics or a related field and two years of increasingly responsible related experience with at one year in a lead or supervisory capacity.
OR
Associate's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in computer science, information systems, electronics or a related field and four years of increasingly responsible related experience with at least one year in a lead or supervisory capacity.
