What are the responsibilities and job description for the Energy Assistance Program Specialist position at Scott Carver Dakota CAP?
SUMMARY
The Energy Assistance Program Eligibility Specialist’s primary responsibility is to confirm eligibility for the Minnesota Energy Assistance Program through verification of income and data entry into the eHEAT system. In addition they will be supporting families in crisis situations and providing information and referrals.

- Assess client needs and gather information to determine which program meets their needs.
- Analyze client information to determine eligibility of energy assistance applications
o Verify income sources
o Calculate income
- Complete required data entry into eHEAT system
- Coordinate vendor guarantees and follow up activity
- Answer phone calls and respond to client requests and questions
- Complete required paperwork and follow up with additional data entry into the eHEAT system
- Maintain all records according to agency/program guidelines
- Be knowledgeable of all CAP Agency programming and community resources; collaborate with staff and external sources for services
- Meet with clients to assist in completion of application (Walk-ins & Home Visits)
- Provide referrals for additional resources
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Training and Experience Guidelines
Associates Degree and plus one year experience working with the public in a customer service role, or a High School diploma or its equivalent and four years’ experience working in a same/similar customer service industry. Qualified individuals must possess the ability to deliver and engage in difficult conversations regarding program guidelines and criteria, have the ability to address and prioritize client situations requiring immediate action/ attention.
LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
A valid Minnesota State Driver’s License may be required.
