Location: 310 Evergreen Road, Louisville, KY, 40243

Shift: Full-Time, 1st, estimated 40 to 45 hours per week - Occasional after-hours and weekend work may be required in support of project requirements from time to time.  Occasional in and out of town travel may also be required while performing duties of this role.

As a Project Manager working at Strategic Communications, you will fill an integral role within the Strategic Communications’ Project Management Office (PMO).  This position reports to the PMO Director and directly contributes to organizational success through the on-time / on-budget management of audiovisual, structured cabling infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will be a highly organized big picture thinker with proven project management experience, a passion for technology, and a desire to continually develop their skills.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Take full ownership and accountability of assigned project portfolio from initiation to closeout; carefully managing scope, budget, and timeline for commercial and Government clients and project stakeholders.
  • Develop comprehensive project plans, schedules, timelines, and maintaining documentation repositories to effectively manage portfolio of assigned technology projects.
  • Identify, document, and coordinate project requirements with Account Executives, and Commercial and/or Government stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to handle changing project requirements and unexpected situations.
  • Lead cross-functional project teams consisting of design engineers, installation technicians, programmers, Service Manager, and subcontractors operating in commercial construction environments and Government facilities.
  • Conduct internal / external project meetings ensuring continued mutual alignment among project stakeholders, documenting and tracking corresponding action items to completion.
  • Ability to coordinate and manage installation schedules with multiple contractors (Electrical, HVAC, Plumbers, etc.) on an installation site and/or Government facilities.
  • Proactively identify and manage project risks, project scope, installation issues, and internal / external dependencies.
  • Work closely with Operations Management team to forecast and schedule project staffing and equipment inventory ensuring optimal use of project resources.
  • Provide and assign clear work instructions to project team members, ensuring work is understood, completed on schedule, and meets or exceeds organizational quality standards.
  • Prepare and distribute regular project status reports keeping management teams and customers up to date on project progress.
  • Coordinate and/or prepare installation deployment packages/briefings for the installation team lead(s).  E.g. Drawing packages, schedules, installation requirements, project updates, etc.
  • Foster a safe and positive team environment and assist in resolving project-related challenges.
  • Support the build-out and maturation of Strategic’s PMO, contributing to the professional growth and development of project management team.

Qualifications, Education and Experience:
  • Evidence of work history and proficiency working to derive insights, perform data evaluation, develop formulas, and analytics with data sets desirable.
  • Communication skills - Evidence of work history with technical writing and oral presentations. Experience in managing projects around the core concepts of Project Management Institute (PMI) methods, business process management, collaboration, and/or system development lifecycle.
  • Demonstrated experience in applying project, portfolio, enterprise architecture, and capital planning practices with an IT organization.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent work experience (5-years working as a Project Manager) required; advanced degree is a plus.
  • Formal project management certification (CAPM, PMP, CTS-D/CTS-I, etc.) is a plus, but not required; solid project management fundamentals are required.
  • Must have experience with project management tools and software and have strong working knowledge of Microsoft Project / SmartSheets or other auto-calculating scheduling tools.
  • Minimum of five years of proven experience managing technology projects, ideally in or relevant to audiovisual, structure cabling and low voltage systems.
  • Strong big-picture thinking with the ability to connect project outcomes to broader organizational objectives.
  • Proactive problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
  • Track record of successful project delivery on time and within budget.
  • Must have demonstrated experience managing projects in an active construction environment and Government facilities, gaining and ensuring continued alignment with all project stakeholders,
  • Strong interest in professional development and a willingness to grow project management skills required.
  • Familiarity with Low Voltage terminology from a construction and installation standpoint.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced and dynamic team environment.

Screening Requirements: Background Check, Drug Testing, Preferred US Citizen capable of obtaining security clearance

Physical Environment: Work is somewhat sedentary in nature but will require standing and walking for up to 25% of the time. The work environment is generally favorable. Lighting and temperature are reasonable. Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment available. Field work is required at construction sites performing coordination meetings, site visits, and progress reviews.
