What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accounting Assistant position at Superior Lidgerwood Mundy Corporation?
Superior Lidgerwood Mundy (SLM) is seeking a part-time Accounting Assistant who will be responsible for several important phases of the daily, monthly, and annual departmental operations. The successful candidate must be able to perform complicated details of preparing accounting records and financial reports for our manufacturing firm. This position will work closely with the Assistant Controller to ensure the fiscal integrity of the cash and financial condition of SLM.
EDUCATION/TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:
҉ 2-year degree in accounting principles and cost accounting
҉ Minimum of 2 years general accounting and finance experience
RESPONSIBILITIES may include:
҉ Prepare and input monthly journal entries. Journalize transactions where judgment must be used as to accounts affected.
҉ Responsible for preparing customer invoices on a timely basis as shipments are made and other monthly billings as necessary.
҉ Responsible to analyze accounts receivable and follow up on accounts past due to determine collectability and when payment will be made.
҉ Inform the Assistant Controller of any uncollectible accounts or ones with difficulties.
҉ Prepare monthly accounts receivable aging reports.
҉ Reconcile, enter, and properly distribute all vendor invoices and other invoices to proper subsidiary ledger, general ledger accounts, and WIP jobs.
҉ Run monthly accounts payable procedures and prepare checks for payment and signature.
҉ Handle calls from suppliers on when invoices will be paid and other questions they may have.
҉ Enter all necessary debit and credit entries to the general ledger maintaining its accuracy and credibility.
҉ Responsible for the details to prepare the bi-weekly payroll. This includes analyzing timecards, entering proper data into each employee’s record, editing and printing the checks, distribution of the checks, preparing all the necessary reports, set up and distribute direct deposit, electronic and bank deposits for payroll taxes and payroll, and reconciliation of all the reports.
҉ Preparation of all monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll tax reports and submittals as required.
҉ Preparation of monthly sales tax reports.
҉ Costing of billed sales, monthly at a minimum
҉ Prepare detailed costing reports for complete and WIP projects.
҉ Prepare monthly sales and costing reports and WIP listings.
҉ Prepare and enter all end of the month journal transactions and prepare monthly trial balances.
҉ Provide all necessary reports to the Assistant Controller for preparation of monthly financial statements.
҉ Prepare necessary reports for year-end audit.
҉ Prepare post-closing and auditors’ adjusting entries at fiscal year-end.
҉ Prepare and distribute Form W-2’s.
҉ Prepare bank reconciliations.
҉ Prepare daily cash sheets for the Assistant Controller.
҉ Analyze, record, and distribute daily time sheets.
҉ Assist with maintaining accurate inventory ledger balances.
҉ Assist with the compliance of all federal and state regulatory reporting requirements.
҉ Assist in maintaining personnel records, documentation of personnel matters, and employee benefit matters.
҉ Communicate continuously with the Assistant Controller to ensure a constant awareness of issues relevant to the accomplishment of the accounting and financial objectives.
҉ Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Assistant Controller from time to time.
