Position Details
The Elaine Clark Center is seeking dependable and motivated individuals to work in our programs providing supportive care to children and young adults with developmental disabilities in our various programs. Our programs include child development (6 weeks to 5 years old), Heart of Hope Academy (5 years to 22 years old) and Out of School Services (5 years to 25 years old).
This position requires the candidate to be able to work within a team of teachers, able to operate in different settings and work with students at varying levels. All staff at the Elaine Clark Center are asked to be flexible and open to understanding the reasons behind behaviors and seek to understand the student’s true cognitive capacity. Staff must also strive to meet the needs of individual students.
This position is ideal for individuals interesting in pursuing a career in speech therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, nursing, special education or behavioral psychology as it will provide experience in working with neuro divergent populations.
Job Duties Include:
- Daily supervision of classroom of children and young adults of varying abilities.
- Implementing classroom instruction, communication systems therapeutic instruction on a daily basis. Creating a healthy classroom environment by providing recreational, health, emotional and therapeutic support for children and young adults in program.
- Assisting students in daily care as needed.
Quality Candidates Will :
- Have a desire to work with children and young adults with special needs.
- Have the ability to actively participate in the classroom.
- Be inquisitive with the desire to help the children and young adults in the program work toward their goals.
- Be able to communicate in a professional manner with diverse personalities.
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent. TCT, AA or CDA. BA or BS in Education, Psychology or Human Development. AMI certified
- Be at least 18 years old.
- Be able to submit a positive criminal records check
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $14.00 - $19.00 per hour
