Job description – Toolmaker

THE PLASTEK GROUP, a top 20 molder in North America that has been in operation for 69 years, is hiring toolmakers in Erie, PA. This position is in one of our Erie based molding divisions. This position offers competitive pay based on experience.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Repair Tooling and molds.
• Evaluate Tool and Mold Components on set PM schedules.
• Perform inventory cycle counts on tool spares and components.
• Manifold Repair work to include, changing out nozzles, tips, thermocouples and manifold sections.
• Change components in molds for production.
• Troubleshoot problems in areas of cleaning, repairing and mold changing.
• Variable work schedule and overtime may be required.
• Must be able to meet the attendance requirement for the position.
• Participate as a team player.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Fabrication of miscellaneous tooling, fixtures, and gauges

Education and Job Experience Requirements

• High School Diploma or G.E.D. preferred.
• Successful completion of trade school and/or apprenticeship program
• Blueprint reading.
• Minimum of 2 years toolmaking experience
• The ability to work independently or in a team is required.
• Flexibility with work schedules and overtime.
• Knowledge of injection molding would be beneficial.

Pay

Pay and vacation is based on experience, $25-32

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Basic Electrical knowledge (preferred but not required)
• Blueprint reading
• Formal apprenticeship or 2 years of equivalent raining/experience (preferred)
• Hot runner manifold repair and maintenance experience (preferred but not required)
• Tool room environment work experience
• Knowledge of working with tool steel and carbide
• Quality inspection, capable of using micrometer, caliper, and optical comparator.
• Strong communication Skills
• Problem Solving Skills
