Job Summary:
The Senior Accountant will play a crucial role in managing the financial activities of our construction projects. This individual will be responsible for the month-end close process, payroll processing, journal voucher entries, account reconciliations, and managing both income and sales and use tax. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, with a strong preference for those with a background in the construction industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Month-End Close: Oversee and manage the month-end close process, ensuring all financial transactions are accurately recorded and reported.
- Payroll Processing: Administer payroll functions, ensuring timely and accurate processing of employee salaries and wages, benefits, and tax withholdings.
- Journal Vouchers: Prepare and review journal vouchers, ensuring all entries are accurate and comply with accounting standards.
- Account Reconciliations: Perform regular account reconciliations to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data.
- Tax Management: Handle all aspects of tax compliance, including income tax and sales and use tax. Prepare and file tax returns, ensuring timely and accurate submissions.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze financial statements and reports, providing insights and recommendations to management.
- Audit Support: Assist with internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with financial regulations and standards.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Support budgeting and forecasting activities, providing financial insights to aid in decision-making.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and relevant laws and regulations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in the construction industry.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Trimble, Viewpoint, HCSS) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with payroll processing and tax compliance.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- CPA or CMA certification.
- Experience with construction-specific accounting software (e.g., Procore, Viewpoint).
- Knowledge of construction contracts, job costing, and project accounting.
