Job Summary: Must promote Tumbleweed Core Values (Culture of Character, Personal Responsibility, Extraordinary Experiences, People Centered, Trust and Transformational Change) and the mission and vision of the organization.
The Development Director will encourage community engagement and support for Tumbleweed’s Vision to end youth homelessness in our community. The employee will devise and implement fundraising, public relations and marketing strategies that will strengthen our community’s involvement in Tumbleweed through collaboration between donors, staff, Board and volunteers. This position identifies, cultivates and solicits donors, funders, private foundations and grant making corporations and agencies through personal interactions, grant writing, proposals, presentations, and marketing.
A strong commitment to ending youth homelessness in this community is necessary.
Core Job Requirements:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services, Communications, Administration, or related field with 1-2 years of experience or five or more years of progressive experience in a social services’ program development and operations. Public relations, fundraising and grant writing experience preferred.
- Must have knowledge and basic abilities in interventions that are rooted in Positive Youth Development, Trauma Informed Care and the Youth Thrive guiding premises
- Must possess a valid driver’s license, proof of insurance, and must meet insurability requirements of agency automobile insurance policy
- Knowledge of needs of youth in crisis and/or transition and community resources
- Computer skills for data recording and record keeping
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to problem solve, be compassionate, firm and to deal calmly in crisis
- Knowledge of trends, both in the community and broader, in fundraising and the human services fields: skills in writing, computers and related software
Essential Functions of the Position:
- Lead and collaborate with staff, Board members and volunteers to ensure that philanthropy and fund development are carried out in keeping with the organization’s values, mission, vision and plans.
- Develops a balanced funding mix of donor sources and actively fills the pipeline with new donors.
- Build a strong donor stewardship program to increase donor engagement and loyalty.
- Effectively communicates Tumbleweed’s mission and vision, programs and outcomes in public presentations and media materials and other required reports..
- Partners with Tumbleweed team members to develop content for accounts via social media and website and other reports and marketing materials.
- Actively identifies new grant opportunities to further the work of Tumbleweed.
- In partnership with Executive Director, generates revenues for agency programs and services through submission of grant proposals.
- In partnership with Tumbleweed team, updates and maintains donor database systems and effectively utilizes data to make decisions and develop revenue plans and donor strategy.
- In partnership with Executive Director, takes and active role in development committee and subcommittee meetings with the Board and volunteers.
- Oversees and coordinates fundraising events in partnership with the Executive Director and Board.
- Participates in staff meetings, coordinated community response meetings and supervisory meetings with peers, coworkers and other agency partners to further implement services for youth.

Work Environment:
The employee must be able to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Pay: From $55,000.00 per year
