Department LCHS Advising Center Job Purpose
Provides academic services to promote student, programmatic, college and university success.
Essential Duties
- Direct LCHS academic support activities
- Oversee the daily operation of the LCHS Academic Advising Center
- Establish advising procedures and allocate center resources to support student success and maximize student retention. Stay abreast of and adopt best practices in these areas as appropriate
- Utilize various sources of student information to identify at-risk students and students experiencing academic difficulties and oversee delivery of appropriate academic support services to these students
- Approve study abroad course plans
- Work closely with the Deans of LCHS to ensure compliances with federal regulations and university policy
- In conjunction with the Associate Dean, coordinate the development of the LCHS master schedule and manage the master schedule process
- Review the master schedule for errors, completeness and to ensure it provides access to the courses necessary for students to progress through their major
- Oversee the academic progress of graduate and undergraduate students
- Ensure that University and departmental academic requirements as published in the catalogs are followed
- Review midterm and final grades and oversee related advisement and academic planning sessions
- Approve student curricular requests consistent with University and LCHS policy
- Respond to student concerns and irregularities
- Serve as the LCHS representative to the CARE team
- Assist the Dean with the development and implementation of the LCHS Strategic Plan
- Assess effectiveness of registration process to improve student experience; suggest and adopt campus-wide approaches to improve student satisfaction with registration as appropriate
- Effective oral and written communication skills

- Master’s degree
Preferred Education Minimum Job Experience Requirements
- Minimum of three (3) years experience working in academic advising is required
- Experience managing an academic advising center is preferred
- Experience supervising employees is preferred
