General Operative

Mullan design and manufacture a wide range of bespoke and customised decorative lighting pieces for the retail, commercial and hospitality markets.

We are seeking a General Operative to work in a manufacturing environment.

Polishing/Painting/Powder Coating experience is highly desirable, however training will be provided on the job.

Job Summary:

Surface Preparation

• Clean, degrease, sand, or blast components to ensure surfaces are ready for coating or polishing.
• Inspect items for defects or contamination before processing.

Masking & Taping

• Apply masking materials to protect areas from paint or powder.
• Follow specific guidelines for each job to ensure clean edges and protection.

Powder Coating Support

• Load and unload parts onto racking systems or conveyor lines.
• Assist with application of powder using manual or automated systems (if trained).
• Monitor parts through the curing oven and check temperature/time settings.

Wet Painting Assistance

• Prepare workpieces for wet spray painting, including taping, priming, or sanding.
• Handle spray booth materials and ensure cleanliness of work areas.
• Mix paints and solvents according to specifications (if trained).

Polishing & Finishing

• Use hand tools or polishing machines to buff and finish surfaces to required standards.
• Apply finishing compounds, waxes, or coatings depending on final finish needs.

Ideal candidate needs to be a team-player with a pro-active attitude.
