Principal Scientist, Quantitative Pharmacology Research DMPK Department, Sanofi, Cambridge, MA, USA Sanofi is seeking a Principal Scientist of Quantitative Pharmacology Research (QPR), to join the Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics (DMPK) research platform of the North American Hub. As a member of the QPR function, the individual will be responsible to design, develop and use PK/PD, mechanism-based, systems-based, and/or data-based (AI/ML) models to drive optimal decision making in the development of novel therapeutics. The scope of project responsibility will range from early discovery up to first in human clinical trials and will involve application of machine learning and quantitative pharmacology approaches to support modality selection, design, lead optimization, and evaluation of First in Human (FIH) dose and regimen recommendations. In support of these activities, the successful incumbent should be able to identify critical research questions, analyse and interpret preclinical and clinical data, and develop modeling and simulation approaches to support critical decision in drug research. The QPR/DMPK group supports multiple therapeutic areas and research platforms within the broader R&D organization. To be able work within and across these multiple partner lines the successful candidate needs to have good communication and collaboration skills. The incumbent will also be expected to keep up with emerging literature, new model-based approaches, and present both internally and externally in publications and/or external meetings. Additional Notice to the Applicant: The current location for this position is in Waltham, MA but will transfer to Cambridge, MA in the second half of 2022. Role requires 50% onsite work, the remaining 50% can be fulfilled remotely at the discretion of the employee and with agreement from their direct manager. Preferred Requirements: A Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics or related field with 5 years of relevant research experience in an academic of biopharmaceutical setting. Experience in developing dynamical (mathematical) and statistical/machine learning models Good understanding of PK and PK/PD principles. Expertise in the application of PK related tools such as Phoenix WinNonlin, Berkeley-Madonna, NONMEM, Monolix and PBPK related softwares. Expertise in a programming language (e.g., MATLAB, R, Python) Experience in developing Shiny applications or other web-based tools is a plus Strong written, presentation and verbal communication skills are essential. Ability to work independently and commit to the development of self. Ability to work in a matrix and in a global environment.
