Job Title: Field Technician COH Job Code: 340484 RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION(S) Due to the nature of our business and emergency response obligations, you must live within 15 miles from the Springfield, Ohio MOD ( 2101 W Main Street, Springfield, Ohio) . You have six (6) months to relocate from the date of hire if you do not currently meet these requirements. Residence is defined as your principal place of dwelling, where personal mail is delivered, and taxes are paid. You may only have one residence at a time. Please understand it is not acceptable to have multiple addresses or to establish an address that meets the residency requirement and not be consistently available for emergency call out 7 days a week. In addition, you are required to be available in this area if you are placed on the on-call rotation prior to your relocating. Relocation assistance is not available. Principal Duties and Responsibilities Responsible for the installation, repair and replacement of distribution facilities such as main lines and services and for the operation and maintenance of construction equipment. Will work on customer premises, to turn gas on /off; reads meters; uses pressure gauges to test for line leaks and gas detection instruments to locate leaks. Includes all of the duties normally performed by a Field or Service Technician as well as acting as lead employee over one or more employees engaged in pinpointing leakage, making repairs, and replacing services or portions of mains Operates all light earth-moving equipment, such as backhoe, side boom, tamper, and hydra-crane. Duties include maintenance of said equipment (including cleaning, greasing and lubricating) and transportation of equipment and/or materials. Other duties include those performed by a Utility Technician on tie-ins, leakage repair and other construction operations. Additional responsibilities may include establishing or re-establishing service to a customer, transfers, disconnects, reads/rereads, meters, locates/repairs curb boxes, removes active and inactive meters, or disconnects gas service at meter or curb box. Responsible for the installation and removal of gas meters, meter settings, and regulators. Required Qualifications for Position Must have a mechanical aptitude and be able to use various types of hand tools needed for repair of field facilities. Must have the ability to obtain a valid Ohio operators and commercial driver's license (CDL) and certification to operate company trucks under the DOT/Ohio Motor Carrier Safety Regulations for intrastate drivers within 3 months of being awarded the job. Must be able to perform basic math calculations, prepare legible records and understand written and oral communications. Must have ability to work effectively in a team environment. Must be able to pass applicable field Physical Capability Assessments. Must be dependable in terms of adherence to deadlines and presence on the job. Requires skill in reading/interpreting gauges & dials. Must be able to be certified to wear self-contained breathing apparatus. Must be able to work overtime and respond to emergency callouts. Job requires working in all weather conditions. All positions are subject to applicable DOT Anti-Drug and Alcohol Misuse Prevention Plan (AMPP) regulations. All positions must be able to respond to emergency calls and work scheduled and nonscheduled overtime. Successful candidates must pass pre-employment Attitude Assessment, Aptitude Testing, Physical Capability Assessment, Drug Screen, MVR screen and Background report.
