Role Summary

This role oversees the execution of the daily training operation by mentoring, coaching and facilitating Flight Attendant Instructors, students, and line Flight Attendants at Alaska Airlines. As a people leader, the Supervisor Inflight Training leads and establishes priorities for the team to ensure training operations are safe, compliant and are a remarkable experience for employees and trainees across six training locations.

Key Duties

  • Lead team and establish priorities regarding daily operations including staffing, scheduling and ensuring compliance to Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs), Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) and department procedures.
  • Supervise the development, design, and delivery of FAA required and optional Flight Attendant training, including maintenance of all inflight training calendars and personnel scheduling.
  • Develop people through effective performance management and ongoing feedback focusing on delegation, coaching, growing and developing the team for capacity and growth, managing performance of individuals in executing tasks and time management.
  • Influence culture of team through action, presence, and reinforcement of behaviors Plans, develops, and implements staff development programs such as classroom training, demonstrations, on-the-job training, meetings, conferences, and workshops.
  • Consults with Inflight Training Development, and Policy and Procedures departments to ensure consistent and accurate delivery of all training curricula.
  • Selects, mentors and supports over 100 flight attendant instructors in six training locations across five states.
  • Leads, develops and supports and manages performance of over 220 learners daily.
  • Oversees administration of 75 Check Flight Attendants as part of the Check Flight Attendant and Probationary Observation program.
  • Travels to deliver training and provide leadership support at remote locations as necessary.
  • May be required to manage training programs after hours and weekends as necessary.
  • Conduct formal performance reviews of each instructor and provide corrective actions as needed.

Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills

Required

  • A minimum of 3 years of airline experience leading people or projects.
  • Bachelor’s degree, or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree.
  • Must successfully complete Flight Attendant Initial Training (if not already qualified as an AS Flight Attendant) and maintain certification as a Flight Attendant.
  • Strong interpersonal skills facilitating effective verbal and written communication at all levels in the organization.
  • Ability to communicate in an engaging and motivating manner to audiences of up to 100 people.
  • Ability to lead complex program efforts to completion while managing multiple objectives and tasks simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated track record of effectively leading/working with cross-functional teams, driving meaningful changes, and developing and mentoring others.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability and willingness to travel 50-75% of the time.
  • Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule based on business needs.
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum age of 21.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Preferred

  • Been part of an airline training program development or delivery experience.
  • History as a Flight Attendant.
  • Experience with eLearning software and mobile learning deployment practices.

Airport SIDA Badge Requirements

Salary Range

$67,700 - $101,500 / year

Salary Details

Pay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to location, relevant experience/level and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska/Horizon employees.
