Summary: Manages a team of project managers to ensure their accountable projects are aligned to the Alaska Native Medical Center’s (ANMC) goals and delivered to the planned scope, schedule, and cost.
Responsibilities:
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES
S trategize, implement, and maintain portfolio goals that adhere to the organizational goals of ANMC and the hospital administrator. As appropriate, partner with the Portfolio Manager of Corporate Operations when projects bridge the gap between the organizations.
D evelop a culture of learning to ensure lessons from one project are transferred to another project in the portfolio to improve project performance.
M aintain organizational standards of satisfaction, quality, and performance.
O versee multiple project teams, support the successful execution of hospital and clinical operations projects, and ensure portfolio goals are reached. Work closely with project sponsors, cross-functional teams, and assigned project managers to plan and develop scope, deliverables, required resources, work plan, budget, and timing for new initiatives.
O versee a portfolio of projects and project teams for optimal return-on-investment, and ensure projects are delivered according to agreed objectives, scope, schedule, and budget
I dentify key requirements needed from cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
D evelop and manage budget for projects and be accountable for delivering against established business goals/objectives.
W ork with other portfolio managers to identify risks and opportunities across multiple projects within the department.
A nalyze, evaluate, and overcome portfolio risks, and produce portfolio reports for management and stakeholders.
S upports project management standards development and provide training to assigned project managers as needed.
F orecast resource needs for assigned project management staff and secures skilled staff from other resource managers necessary for the portfolio of projects.
S tep in to support as lead project manager for critical projects or critical project phases as needed.
P erforms other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS
E xperience in a hospital or clinical setting is a plus. This can include clinical process improvement efforts, clinical/hospital systems experience, or broader healthcare experiences.
P roven leader in project delivery of increasing complexity of projects. Leader with experience managing project management staff.
K nowledge of Project management experience to include the use of standard methodologies on complex projects in a healthcare environment.
S kill in assessing and prioritizing multiple tasks, projects and demands
S kill in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with co-workers, contractors, and internal and external stakeholders.
S kill in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with individuals with wide array of cultural, political, educational, socio-economic, geographic and linguistic backgrounds.

M INIMUM EDUCATION QUALIFICATION
A Bachelor’s Degree in healthcare, engineering, business, project management or related field. Progressively responsible professional/exempt work experience in all aspects of the planning, design and implementation of highly complex projects may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for college education.
M INIMUM EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATION
N on-supervisory - Ten (10) years professional work experience managing major projects or working in positions using all the aspects of planning, design and implementation of projects. An equivalent combination of relevant education and/or training may be substituted for experience.

M INIMUM CERTIFICATION QUALIFICATION
P roject Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification. Four years of additional project management work experience may be substituted for certification/licensure.
