Job Summary
A Physical Therapist Assistant is needed to work with our Regional Therapy Services team. This is a Flex/PRN position that offers variety in settings, and new graduates are welcome to apply.
About the Role
The Physical Therapist Assistant will be responsible for providing patient-centered care under the supervision of a Physical Therapist. They will work with an interdisciplinary team to develop patient goals and identify barriers to discharge. The assistant will assist the Physical Therapist in planning and organizing the plan of care for each patient.
Essential Job Functions
- Evaluate and implement intervention plans using effective methods that align with each patient's plan of care.
- Provide interventions, evaluations, and documentation of goal progress. Modify intervention methods as needed and collaborate with the therapy team to achieve patient goals.
- Orient patients, families, and other relevant parties to the purpose and procedures of physical therapy evaluation and treatment. Provide education and teaching as needed.
- Supervise therapy assistants and aides in a collaborative manner.
- Develop and document discharge plans when patients have reached their goals or achieved maximum benefit from therapy. Provide follow-up resources, services, and training as necessary.
- Obtain and document all required patient information, including precautions, orders, and initial plans of care.
- Meet requirements of third-party payers by including appropriate documentation within specified window periods and insurance guidelines.
- Perform pain assessments and take appropriate action according to standard operating procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned or needed to meet departmental needs.
Certifications and Requirements
- Physical Therapy Assistant certification from the North Dakota Board of Physical Therapy prior to start date.
- Physical Therapy Assistant certification from the Minnesota Board of Physical Therapy prior to start date.
- Driver's license with an acceptable driving record prior to start date.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association within 90 days of start date.
- MN Background Study through the Minnesota Department of Human Services at start date.
Physical Demands
This role requires frequent sitting, standing, walking, stooping/bending, reaching, squatting/crouching/kneeling, twisting, handling/finger/feeling, seeing, and hearing. It also involves lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling up to 20-40 pounds, and working in indoor conditions continuously and outdoor conditions occasionally.
Driving Requirement
This position requires frequent drivers who drive daily or almost daily.
