PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Manage, reconcile, record and report the District’s investment in asset inventory.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Education/Certification:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field
Special Knowledge / Skills:
Strong communication, public relations, organizational, and interpersonal skills
Proficient skills in word processing and file maintenance
Working knowledge of data processing systems, computer applications, and financial applications
Ability to operate office machines
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software
Thorough knowledge of accounting procedures
Highly organized with the ability to prioritize tasks
Strong math and analytical skills
Ability to perform job functions with limited supervision
Basic knowledge of the procurement process
Work Conditions:
Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals
Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
Motion: Repetitive hand motions including keyboarding and mouse; occasional reaching
Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying up to 15 pounds

Minimum Experience:
Three years of work experience dealing with accounting systems and functions- preferred
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Monitor a system of controls, processes and forms to correctly account for and safeguard the district’s fixed assets.
- Recommend to management any updates to accounting policies, procedures and processes related to fixed assets.
- Record fixed asset acquisitions and dispositions in the subsidiary fixed asset records and reconcile to the district’s general ledger accounts.
- Conduct, coordinate and supervise periodic physical inventory counts of fixed assets, reconcile the counts to the subsidiary fixed asset records and investigate discrepancies.
- Conduct periodic impairment and obsolescence reviews of fixed assets.
- Recommend to management dispositions of fixed assets.
- Conduct analyses related to fixed assets as requested by management.
- Assist external and internal auditors with fixed asset inquiries.
- Calculate depreciation and maintain detailed schedules.
- Represent the district during any audits by a government that involves fixed assets.
- Maintain confidentiality of information.
- Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers including the Texas Educator Code of Ethics.
- Perform such other tasks and accepts such other responsibilities as may be assigned.
