Direct Care Staff

Job Summary
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) plays a crucial role in providing assistance and support to individuals with disabilities or special needs. This position is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for clients by promoting independence and encouraging participation in daily activities. The DSP will work closely with clients in various settings, including personal care homes, assisted living facilities, and community environments.

Duties

• Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including personal hygiene, grooming, and dressing.
• Provide support in meal preparation and ensure dietary needs are met.
• Implement behavior management strategies to promote positive interactions and reduce challenging behaviors.
• Facilitate engagement in community activities and encourage socialization among peers.
• Maintain a safe and clean environment for clients, adhering to health and safety regulations.
• Document client progress and report any changes in behavior or health status to appropriate personnel.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
• Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance clients' overall well-being.

Qualifications

• Experience in senior care, home care, or related fields is preferred.
• Knowledge of first aid practices is a plus.
• Familiarity with behavior management techniques is beneficial.
• Strong understanding of the needs associated with personal care homes and assisted living environments.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to build rapport with clients.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Compassionate demeanor with a genuine desire to help others achieve their goals for independence and quality of life.

• Caregiving: 1 year (Preferred)
