Accounting Technician
- Process accounts payable on a weekly basic by ensuring invoices have appropriate coding and approvals and entering data into the computer.
- Maintain fiscal files and related records by generating a barcode label so that completed invoices can be scanned, and reconciling paper and electronic records.
- Open US mail daily and process accounts payable invoices to include forwarding to the correct departments for approval or coding
- Provide accounting and clerical support to the accounting department as needed.
- Type data with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Assist vendors with new account setup and ACH processing
- Reconcile vendor accounts in a timely manner and report discrepancies
- Compile reports/summaries
- Ensure the accuracy of all processing by performing a number of self-audit and reconciliation procedures, identifying errors, and taking or recommending corrective actions and entries
- Prepare tax exempt forms when requested
- Maintain file for 1099s and responsible for reporting to vendors and the Federal Government
- Answer telephones when necessary
- Provide assistance and support to other Finance personnel, as well as other departments
- Process voided checks and ACH voids and reissue as necessary
- Interact in a professional manner with management, other personnel, the general public and vendors
- Perform other related accounting functions as necessary to insure the smooth administrative operation of the County
The ideal candidate will have:
- Proven accounting experience
- Familiarity with bookkeeping and basic accounting procedures
- Competency in MS Office, databases and accounting software
- Hands-on experience with excel spreadsheets to include creating and data entry
- and financial reports
- Excellent analytical and mathematical abilities
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- High level of integrity and trustworthiness
- Strong written and oral communication, as well as excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to perform filing/scanning and record keeping tasks
- Data entry and word processing skills
- Organizational skills
Education:
Candidates will have any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college with major course work in accounting or related field. Thorough knowledge of accounting terminology, methods, and procedures and considerable experience in accounting and/or bookkeeping.
This position has a starting salary range of $40,716-$44,943 DOQ. The County offers an excellent fringe benefit package including retirement, group life insurance, health insurance, and a paid time off program.
