What are the responsibilities and job description for the Financial Controller position at Autism Breakthrough Corporation?
General Responsibilities:
- Develops, writes and updates financial methods, policies, procedures and guidelines for approval.
- Monitors and reconciles bank accounts for Breakthrough Corporation and all Phases.
- Records transactions for all managed properties.
- Processes invoices and receipts for all service programs.
- Reviews lease administration transactions, move-ins/outs, subsidy/tenant allocations, bad-debt write-offs, and late legal charges.
- Assists Program Coordinators in review of related financial reports/budgets.
- Processes purchase orders.
- Tracks the Accounts Receivables and Accounts Payable and oversees the General ledger. Responsible for accurate production of the related monthly financial reports.
- Provides budget analysis for the Corporation and service programs.
- Evaluates cash management for the Corporation.
- Responsible for monitoring, submitting, and tracking billing.
- Acts as a backup for all payroll functions.
- Analyzes tax accounts and assists in annual and quarterly tax reports and filings.
- Assures compliance with all required permits and annual reports.
- Hires, trains and retains accounting staff.
- Abides by all policies, procedures, regulations and guidelines for safety, quality assurance and general corporate oversight of Breakthrough and or/the State of Tennessee, Department of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities.
- Assists in the performance of other duties required by Breakthrough and/or the needs of persons supported and as assigned by the Executive Director.
- Special Demands
- The Accounting Supervisor must have understanding, patience and tact in dealing with persons supported, their families or advocates and other agencies involved in providing supports; the ability to maintain good working relationships with staff and with contacts from other agencies or entities; be able to prioritize work tasks under the general direction of the Executive Director; be able to work without close personal supervision.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- CPA certification preferred
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in financial accounting
- Proficiency financial software
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience with balance sheet reconciliation and regulatory reporting
- Knowledge of non-profit or governmental accounting a plus
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Detail-oriented and able to meet deadlines
