POSITION DESCRIPTION

Position Title: Banquet Server

Department: Country Club

Reports To: Banquet and Events Manager

POSITION SUMMARY

The Banquet Server is responsible for serving food and beverages to guests at venues or catering events. Their duties include greeting and interacting with guests in a positive and efficient manner and taking their orders, bringing them the correct drinks and dishes and refilling their beverages as needed. Candidates must have a friendly and professional demeanor, work well on a team, and be comfortable on their feet for several hours at a time. Perform other duties as requested by the Banquet and Events Manager with the day-to-day operations of the banquet facility.

· Assist with the complete setup and breakdown of the banquet area.

· Assist with food preparation before and during the event.

· Greeting guests as they enter a venue and helping them to find their seats.

· Seeing to the comfort of guests through answering questions, taking orders, and conveying special instructions to the kitchen and bar.

· Circulating the room with trays of appetizers and beverages.

· Serve appetizers and plated dinners to guests.

· Deliver food from the kitchen to the banquet hall in a timely manner.

· Serve and refill alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.

· Adhere to all applicable laws when serving alcohol.

· Maintain a high level of cleanliness and awareness of sanitary practices.

· Remove each round of plates and replenish utensils.

· Clear, clean and stage tables between courses.

· Respond urgently and appropriately to any concerns.

· Present in professional appearance and mannerisms.

· Dress in accordance with event guidelines and adhere to grooming and appearance standards.

· Wear slip-resistant footwear for all shifts.

· Assist with post-event clean up, inventory, food storage, and tear down.

· Work all assigned shifts unless approved by management.

REQUIREMENTS

· High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

· Previous waitress, waiter or banquet server experience required.

· Excellent oral communication and listening skills.

· Must be legally eligible for employment in the United States.

· Must be at least 21 years old.

· Ability to understand and follow directions.

· Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.

· Excellent memory ability.

· Ability to work as part of a team and follow instructions.

· Support other staff to ensure guest satisfaction.

· A banquet server shall provide their own uniform which consists of a white tuxedo shirt, black bow tie, black pants, black socks and black shoes.

· Must be available to work evenings, weekends and holidays.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Must possess ability to speak and hear clearly with good vision and memory. Manual dexterity sufficient to carry trays of food and drinks. This position will require long periods of walking or standing. Ability to keep banquet facility clean and tidy. Reliability, professionalism and a keen sense of cleanliness and organizational skills. Physical agility to reach with hands and arms in any direction and kneel and stoop repeatedly and to reach overhead. Ability to climb stairs when necessary. Physical mobility sufficient to move about the work environment, physical strength to frequently lift/carry up to 25 lbs. and occasionally lift/carry up to 50 lbs. with assistance.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Working environment is mainly indoors. Bending, crouching, or kneeling, reaching in all directions for prolonged periods of time. Physical mobility sufficient to move about the work environment.
