What are the responsibilities and job description for the Staff Accountant position at BK Products?
The Staff Accountant position is responsible for providing management with financial assistance by preparing, analyzing, administering, and reporting on a variety of financial areas as directed by the BK Controller.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assist with monthly accounting close
- Assist with monthly financial reporting
- Prepare and post journal entries to the general ledger
- Maintain and reconcile specific balance sheet and P&L accounts
- Prepare monthly Property, Plant, & Equipment (PP&E) rollforwards
- Administer BK commissions to outside sales agents (prepare and report)
- Administer BK customer rebate program (prepare and report)
- File State & Use Tax Returns
- Assist with audit requests from Internal and External auditors
- Assist with the annual physical inventory at the primary distribution center
- Provide backup assistance where designated
- Provide support for various ad hoc projects
- Assist with the annual budgeting/plan process
- Additional duties as assigned
Requirements & Qualifications:
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
- Moderate-level Excel skills required (vlookups, sumifs, pivot tables, etc.)
- Strong analytical problem-solving aptitude with creative solutions, ability to organize work with large amounts of information efficiently, manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously with strong attention to detail
- Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and written, with management
- Able to work as a team player
- Open to development of new skills and knowledge
- Driven to continuously search for process improvement
- Willingness to be flexible and adaptable to change
Education & Experience:
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in an applicable field of study
- Relevant experience not required but beneficial
- CPA or desire to attain CPA
