Position Summary
We are seeking a reliable, compassionate, and CPR-certified On-Call Childcare Worker to support our childcare center on an as-needed basis. The ideal candidate will be passionate about working with children, demonstrate flexibility and reliability. As an on-call childcare worker, you will assist in providing a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment for children of all different ages from infants to toddlers to early adolescents.
Key Responsibilities:
Childcare Assistance: Provide supervision and care for children in the center, ensuring a safe, engaging, and educational environment. Assist with daily routines such as feeding, diapering, napping, and playtime.
Activity Support: Engage children in age-appropriate activities that promote their physical, social, and emotional development. Assist in setting up and leading activities such as arts and crafts, games, and outdoor play.
Behavior Management: Support positive behavior by using appropriate methods of discipline and guidance. Ensure that all children are treated with kindness, respect, and fairness.
Health & Safety: Ensure the well-being and safety of children by adhering to center policies and safety protocols. Respond to minor injuries or illnesses as needed, following established procedures. Ensure that all toys, equipment, and facilities are safe and in good condition.
CPR/First Aid Response: Be prepared to respond to any medical emergencies, including performing CPR or basic first aid when necessary, and ensuring the child receives prompt medical attention if needed.
Communication: Maintain clear communication with the center director, staff, and parents/guardians about any concerns, incidents, or updates related to the children in your care.
Team Collaboration: Work closely with full-time staff to ensure smooth daily operations, including assisting with transitions between activities and helping maintain a clean, organized environment.
Qualifications:
· CPR Certification: Current CPR and First Aid certification is required.
· Experience: Previous experience working with children in a childcare setting, preschool, or other related environments is preferred but not required.
· Communication Skills: Excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to interact positively with children, staff, and parents/guardians.
· Patience & Compassion: Strong ability to demonstrate patience, empathy, and a caring attitude toward children.
· Flexibility: Must be able to adapt quickly to different age groups, settings, and the needs of the children in care.
· Physical Requirements: Ability to engage in physical activities such as playing on the floor with children, lifting children, or assisting with mobility as needed.
· Background Check: Successful completion of a background check in accordance with state regulations.
Hours and Schedule
This is an on-call position. Hours will vary based on the center’s needs, including during staff absences, peak hours, or emergencies. Flexibility in availability is essential.

About Time for Change Foundation
The mission of Time for Change Foundation (TFCF) is to empower disenfranchised low-income individuals and families by building leadership through evidence-based programs and housing to create self-sufficiency and thriving communities. Since 2002, TFCF has been assisting homeless women and children achieve self-sufficiency by providing housing and necessary supportive services. In response to the housing crisis and effects of mass incarceration and family separation, TFCF implemented an array of evidenced-based programs, housing and trauma informed approaches to address their needs. Equally important, is our leadership development and advocacy projects necessary to bring the voices of those most impacted by punitive policies into policy advocacy and civic engagement.
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour
Expected hours: 2 – 4 per week
