Job Title: Controller

Reporting To: Chief Financial Officer

General Summary of Responsibilities: The Controller provides leadership and supervision for the Finance Department, overseeing accounting, budgeting, payroll, accounts payable, and charge capture/chargemaster functions. This role is essential in developing, reviewing, and implementing financial processes that align with organizational goals and objectives while adhering to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and maintaining robust internal controls.

Other Job Functions:

  • Perform technical functions within the department as needed.
  • Attend mandatory in-services, trainings, and departmental meetings, including Head of Department meetings.
  • Present information and lead discussions with groups such as the Board of Trustees, Senior Management, and Department Managers.
  • Ensure confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Complete additional duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:

Education:

  • Required: Bachelor of Science/Arts Degree in Business with an emphasis or concentration in Accounting.

Experience:

  • Required:
    • Proficiency in keyboarding and software applications, including Outlook, Internet Explorer, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
    • Comprehensive knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles, including GAAP.
    • Familiarity with inter-related IT systems, including general ledger, payroll, and accounts payable.
    • General understanding of hospital and clinic billing and accounts receivable systems.
    • A minimum of five years of experience in a senior-level accountant or financial analyst role in any industry, with strong skills in financial statement preparation and demonstrated leadership abilities.

License/Certifications:

  • Required: None
  • Preferred: CPA

  • The ability to listen actively and respond professionally to diverse audiences.
  • Manage staff in the Finance Department
