Summary:
The Director of Fundraising and Grants will create fundraising strategies that increase support from individuals, corporations, foundations, and other sources, providing the leadership, strategic direction, management and coordination for all fundraising efforts. The position plays a key role in identifying, cultivating, and soliciting major donors for capital and annual gifts. The Director of Fundraising and Grants will work in close collaboration with the CEO, other senior staff, as well as key volunteer leadership to achieve fundraising goals. All employees of Boysville, Inc. receive training in Quality Improvement (QI) activities of the company and are required to actively participate in QI meetings, tasks, projects and/or committees, as needed.
Essential Job Functions:
- Plan, administer, and implement all annual and long-range fundraising activities.
- Cultivate and directly solicit key donors, working with the CEO and other key volunteers
- Develop and maintain close working relationships with the philanthropic community, individual and corporate donors, sponsors, board members and volunteers
- Manage the development operation in a fiscally sound manner by ensuring that the appropriate systems and procedures are in place to support fundraising goals.
- Provide detailed reports about the fundraising progress to the CEO and the Board Development Committee on a regular basis
- Prepare and/or oversee grant applications and reporting to corporations and foundations
- Prepare and/or oversee all direct mail letters, case statements, brochures, and sponsorship proposals required to support fundraising efforts
- Maintain a proactive, creative leadership role in the research, identification, cultivation, and solicitation of individual, corporate and foundation contributions.
- Ensure that all donors are appropriately thanked and receive regular communication by making donor stewardship a priority
- Work closely with the Development team to deliver a consistent message and develop a strategy for marketing efforts including newsletters, web pages, and social media.
- Work closely with Development team on strategy and planning of how special events will support the overall fund-raising effort.
- Work closely with the Volunteer Coordinator on strategy to recruit high quality volunteers, both individual and group, and integrate volunteering into cultivation efforts.
- Serve as a visible spokesperson and advocate for Boysville’s mission and programs in the funding community
Supervision:
- Delegates and oversees work assignments
- Ensures that service delivery is performed according to Boysville’s mission, policies and procedures, and philosophy.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communication, Public Relations, or similar field
- At least five years of hands-on experience as a fundraiser for a non-profit organization
- A record of measurable results in organizing and implementing activities such as: major gifts, annual gifts, grant writing, corporate and foundation giving, direct mail and special events
- A track record of personally identifying, cultivating and soliciting individual donors, corporations and foundations
- Ability to work in a hands-on environment with limited resources
- Computer literate with knowledge of fundraising software
- Ability to effectively gain the respect and support of various constituencies, including board and staff members, donors and foundation and civic leaders
- Effective communication skills including a strong ability to write well
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required
- Must exhibit behavior that demonstrates cultural diversity and sensitivity (See Corporate Policy #2103).

Salary : $82,400
