As we continue to pursue new goals, it's an exciting time to join the Bragg team. We are currently hiring an HR Assistant Generalist in our Long Beach, CA headquarters.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leave Administration: Oversee the entire leave administration process, from initial notice to return to work. This includes gathering and completing all required paperwork, determining leave eligibility, designating leave as FMLA-qualifying, requesting medical certification as needed, and managing intermittent and reduced schedule leave use.
- Onboarding and Offboarding: Facilitate a smooth transition for new hires and departing employees by managing all onboarding and offboarding processes.
- Recruiting: Assist our Recruiter in the hiring process, manage job postings, screen candidates, conduct interviews, and handle onboarding in line with company objectives.
- Employee Relations: Address general employee-related inquiries regarding time, PTO, benefits, etc., and refer complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations. Recommend best practices and review policies to maintain compliance.
- Knowledge Maintenance: Stay current with trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
Required Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience: 3 years of experience working in human resources or leave administration. Possess working knowledge of HR functions, including recruitment, employee relations, and labor law compliance.
- Technical Skills: Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, as well as proficiency with HRIS systems.
- Soft Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to handle sensitive information professionally and confidentially. Detail-oriented and able to multitask effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- College Degree: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Certification: Certification from the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) is highly desirable.
- Industry Knowledge: Previous experience in the construction, industrial services, or manufacturing industry.
Work Environment
- Physical Conditions: Standard office environment with prolonged periods of sitting and computer use. May occasionally require standing or moving between office areas.
