What are the responsibilities and job description for the Membership Assistant position at Brooklyn Museum?
The Brooklyn Museum is seeking a Membership Assistant to join the team and capitalize on significant opportunity for growth within the Museum's Membership program. We are recruiting a Membership Assistant who will be a critical partner in the museum's mission to bring people together through art and experiences that inspire celebration, compassion, courage, and the will to act. The Membership Assistant will implement efficient systems, support Member programs and events, and ensure that the on-site and online Member experience surpasses expectations.
Qualifications:
- At least one year of experience in membership or development, or in a customer service or administrative role
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word, and familiarity with a customer relationship management system (CRM) and ticketing software is highly desirable
- Superior time-management skills and persistence, attention to detail, empathy, and the capacity to handle multiple tasks with ease
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Experience providing kind and expedient customer service by both phone and email
- Ability to deal courteously, efficiently, and maturely with staff, volunteers, Museum Members, and the general public
- Enthusiasm for realizing the Museum's mission and creating a welcoming environment and superior experience for all Members and visitors
- Capacity to thrive in a large, complex organization and the ability to perform effectively and with grace under pressure
Responsibilities:
- Administrative:
- Prepare, print, and coordinate mailing of premiums, greeting cards, and in-house acknowledgement letters
- Submit all purchase requests and invoices on behalf of the Membership team to ensure vendors are paid promptly
- Manage Membership collateral inventories, including brochures, letterhead, envelopes, etc.
- Help maintain accurate member records across systems by updating records or working with the Development Operations team to update records
- Support weekly membership fulfillment reports to ensure the timely delivery of Membership packets
- Other reporting responsibilities as assigned
Events and Programs:
- Staff and support the planning of Member events and exclusive Member Hours
- Assist with managing event budgets and logistics
Customer Service:
- Provide consistent and excellent customer service for all Members and potential Members
- Serve as a point of contact via phone and email, assisting with the Membership hotline and email account
- Sell, renew, and upgrade Memberships
- Resolve Member problems and address concerns and requests in a respectful, expedient, and professional manner
