What does the IT Operations Director do?
The IT Director of IT Operations will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, efficiency and security of technology systems. This position assists with operational planning and ensuring that all systems and processes are running in accordance with the organization’s requirements and policies to mitigate any potential IT-related disruptions. This position also manages IT service providers and vendors for services.
This position will take a collaborative approach communicating with appropriate personnel within the IT team and various departments within the Bank, ensuring compliance with operating policies and procedures, while also displaying strong leadership skills with the ability to lead cross functional teams.
Essential Duties
- Direct and harmonize efforts across all IT operational areas, including the oversight of:
- Audit/Disaster Recovery
- Incident Response
- IT Asset Management
- Vendor/Contract Management
- Production Change Control
- Data Architecture oversight
- Technology Review Board Facilitation
- IT Planning and Budgeting
- IT operational process standardization and documentation
- Maintain working relationships with vendors and third-party providers, ensuring contracts are kept up to date and cost maintenance strategies are assessed and analyzed on a periodic basis
- Work with Information Security department to ensure all IT systems and processes comply with both internal and external policies, security protocols, and regulations.
- Create standardized documents and procedures to improve IT Operations and meet industry standards and regulations.
- Implement strategies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Support the change management and process improvement method.
- Maintains an elevated level of technical competence and ability to perform work within the domains of IS Systems, Networking, and Application management.
- Establish Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for IT operations, tracking performance and generating regular reports.
- Collaborate with Compliance, Legal, Information Security and the IT Business Advisory Office teams to update existing information technology & security policies, standards, guidelines and procedures based on industry best practices and regulatory requirements. Develop and foster effective working relationships to ensure regulatory requirements are met and mitigate Information Security Risk to the bank.
- Assess IT business processes for continuous improvement. Evaluate, research, analyze requirements, develop and test business processes to streamline and/or automate where appropriate.
- Facilitate the IT technology review process. Coordinate with vendors, IT Managers and Directors to facilitate formal reviews of new technology. Act as liaison between Vendors in facilitation of vendor reviews, including annual review of IT vendors.
- Act as the liaison between Risk and Compliance department and process owners throughout the audit lifecycle.
- Establish, implement and conduct key periodic controls as it applies to IT or Production systems. Make recommendations for enhancement of IT system controls and process improvements. Coordinate internal and external audits for all IT regulatory concerns, to Identify gaps and deficiencies.
- Manage all audit and compliance remediation efforts to address issues identified via security assessments, key financial application reviews, access control reviews, internal or external audits and/or other assessments. Respond quickly to compliance needs and audit resolutions. Collaborate with Information Security Risk Department on remediation of shared findings.
- Coordinate the implementation of the Bank’s data strategy ensuring that all stakeholders are involved
What is needed to be successful in this role?
- Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Information Systems, Business Administration or related field normally required.
- Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a focus on IT or technology management, or a Master’s in Information Systems/Technology highly desirable
- A minimum of ten (10) years’ working in Information Technology positions, preferably in multidisciplinary IT roles.
- In-depth knowledge of business processes as well as process controls and risks and an understanding of how this relates to the IT environment and audit procedures is required.
- Proven experience in navigating complex organizations, creative problem solving and effective relationship management.
- Experience in project management and financial budgeting
- Experience in Financial Services and understanding of Banking Regulations strongly preferred.
- Excellent communication and soft skills
- Familiarity with data governance strategies and models highly desirable
- Familiarity with principles of IT Asset Management

Compensation range target- $134,000 - $169,000
The actual salary offered within the range is dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, qualifications, skills, level offered, and performance expectations.
