Job Description
Job Title: Director of Labor and Delivery (Director of Nursing, Director)
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Director of Labor and Delivery to oversee the day-to-day operations of our labor and delivery department. The Director will be responsible for ensuring the highest quality of patient care, managing staff, developing and implementing policies and procedures, and maintaining regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Provide leadership and direction to all nursing staff within the labor and delivery department.
2. Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure efficient and effective operations.
3. Monitor and evaluate the quality of patient care and make recommendations for improvements.
4. Manage staffing levels and schedules to ensure adequate coverage and minimize overtime.
5. Collaborate with other departments to coordinate patient care and services.
6. Ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations, as well as hospital policies.
7. Participate in strategic planning and budgeting for the labor and delivery department.
8. Oversee staff training and development programs to promote professional growth.
9. Handle patient complaints and grievances in a timely and professional manner.
10. Stay current on industry trends and best practices in labor and delivery nursing.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing; Master's degree preferred.
- Current RN license in the state of practice.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in labor and delivery nursing, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and quality improvement initiatives.
- Experience with budgeting and financial planning.
- Certification in Inpatient Obstetric Nursing (RNC-OB) preferred.
