Summary Description
We are looking for an ambitious, driven, experienced Sr. Payroll Administrator to join our growing organization. The Sr. Payroll Specialist will accurately and timely process the bi-weekly payroll for approximately 800 employees in multiple states. The position is primarily in office and the incumbent can be located in Columbus, OH, or Marion, OH.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Implements maintains and reviews payroll processing systems. Identifies and recommends updates to payroll processing software, systems, and procedures.
- Ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll, including new hires and terminations.
- Ensure all maintenance is performed for accurate payroll which includes hourly rates, salaries, commissions, bonuses or other compensation, time worked, paid leave and holidays, deductions and withholding, address changes, taxes, garnishments, voluntary deductions, and other information.
- Ensure timely 401k transactions are managed accurately.
- Timekeeping verification for all locations.
- Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports for all payroll transactions.
- Facilitates audits by providing records and documentation to auditors.
- Provides guidance to managers regarding compensation concerns, and issues.
- Ensures proper storage and record keeping for all payroll and personnel files.
- Participate in onboarding new hires.
- Prepare and maintain biweekly employee reports, new-hire and absentee reports, vacation accruals, and attendance records.
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices while maintaining knowledge of laws, regulations, and best practices in employment law, payroll, human resources, and talent management, ensuring compliance with employment, benefits, insurance, safety, and other laws, regulations, and requirements
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Associates Degree in business, accounting, or relevant field preferred
- 3-5 years of proven experience as a payroll professional
- Strong knowledge of payroll software, applicant tracking systems, and onboarding applications
- Experience with Paycom or Paycor preferred
- Solid understanding of accounting fundamentals and payroll best practices
- Proficient in MS Office
- Experience utilizing exports and working with large data sets preferred
- Knowledge of legislation and regulations of the payroll field
- Experience with benefits administration is preferred but not required
- Trustworthy with attention to confidentiality
- Outstanding organizational ability with great attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to adapt and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Self-motivated and able to independently process payroll timely and accurately.
