The Catholic Cemeteries of Chicago are the largest private cemetery system in the United States with 47 cemeteries throughout Cook and Lake Counties in Illinois and are looking for dedicated, talented and compassionate individuals to become part of our team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists the Cemetery Manager by assisting with the sales program, and performing general office activities as necessary, for the proper maintenance of cemetery records, in accordance with approved standards and procedures of the Catholic Cemeteries.
  • Provides information to assist families in arranging for cemetery facilities, including the sale of graves, crypts and niches, grave decorations, vaults, memorialization and other services.
  • Handles inquiries and requests for information from cemetery visitors, including lot holders, prospective lot holders, priests, funeral directors, memorial dealers, florists and others.
  • Interprets and communicates the regulations of the Archdiocese governing burial, as well as rules and regulations, policies, operations, charges and payment plans of the cemetery.
  • Processes and records all matters relating to interments, including interment orders, invoices, authorizations, permits, files and correspondence.
  • Assists as necessary in the processing of selections, including easements and related paperwork.
  • Handles procedural work in connection with other services, including mailings, inventory, memorial applications, and payments and deposits for cemetery services.
  • All other related duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to work cooperatively with the public, co-workers and supervisors and execute assignments in a timely fashion.
  • Mature judgment, initiative, poise, tact, and affability, and the ability to represent the Catholic Cemeteries creditably in all public contacts, especially with regard to emotionally charged situations.
  • Ability to read cemetery maps and planographs.
  • An operational vehicle since the position requires the use of a vehicle to assist with sales if necessary.
  • Ability to fulfill the six-day workweek (Monday to Saturday) and work the established hours of the position.
  • Ability to walk on potentially uneven ground and work outdoors in all types of weather.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in both verbal and written form. Ability to speak the Spanish language a plus.
  • Knowledge of office procedures and systems, computers and computer programs.
  • A practicing Catholic, with a Catholic educational background preferred and familiarity with Catholic teachings and traditions.
  • A High School Graduate or have a G.E.D. Certificate.
  • At least three years of satisfactory work experience involving sales, public contact, and office procedures and systems.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $44,000.00 per year
