Field Operations Manager

CBS New York, the #1 local station in the Paramount portfolio, is looking for a collaborative leader with deep knowledge of the tri-state area to run its highly competitive ENG Field Operation.

SKILLS:

• Must be skilled at logistics and planning in order to increase the use of station resources
• Must be a problem solver who knows how to prioritize and delegate tasks
• Must be a collaborator who can work across teams to support both CBS News and CBS New York
• Possess working knowledge of cellular and satellite technology
• Must see themselves as an extension of the newsroom, working closely with the Assignment Desk and Planning to develop news coverage plans that are aggressive and innovative
• Provide feedback and mentorship to field personnel
• Must be adept scheduling as this will be a key responsibility

REQUIREMENTS:

• 10 years of experience in a top 5 news market
• Must learn and enforce agreements with all unions
• Help set priorities for the field maintenance shop
• Must be available during off hours to assist with breaking news coverage, staffing issues or emergencies
• Must adopt and enforce the CBS culture of safety first
• Must keep and update the schedule for crews and communicate changes to all collaborators in a timely fashion
• Oversee maintenance of a fleet of 40 news gathering vehicles
• Participate in the purchase of gear
• Manage drone fleet

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Hiring Salary Range: $165,000.00 - 175,000.00.

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, tuition assistance program and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement. This position is bonus eligible.
